Hi Folks,
gosh, it's been a long time since I last posted an update, I apologize !
Well, first week of college was hectic and will stay hectic with all of the studying and pre requisite stuff I have to get out of the way this semester to go on to the next semester, shot updates, blood tests, physical, background check, buying supplies and uniforms, all sorts of stuff to take care of. BUT, time is set aside to take care of the bunnies, and I even found time yesterday to attend my first Rabbit show for this fall.
The picture above is the only one I managed to take, grooming and judging took up most of our free time. The double open all breed ARBA show was held in Perry GA during the Georgia National Fair. We shared the hall with a LOT of cows entered into a national heffer competition, the noise level was incredible all day :(
In total we had a good turnout in all 4 breeds of angoras, despite the fact that the fair officials dropped sanctions for angoras, no awards, no paybacks :( We had a total of 3 English entered by a very friendly Gentlemen who's name got lost in the noise, we had 1 Satin Angora entered by a new gal " on the block " from Warner Robins , she also brought two French Angoras, a senior buck and senior doe.
Lauren and Rik Waters attended the show with 5 French Angoras and 7 ? Giant Angoras, and last but not least I brought along 7 French Angoras and 1 Giant Angora. Yes, low numbers for some breeders and some areas, but, for OUR area here with the complete lack of angora breeders that both to attend shows, I myself was happy to see some unexpected entries and new faces :)
The picture shows " Angora camp " so to speak, the cages you see are filled with my own buns and show some of Lauren's buns as well. In the background you see breeders and show tables with judges.
Show results :
Show A judged By John Soper , Giant Angora BOB WSD JG's Helga , owned by me. BOS WJB owned by Lauren Waters. French Angora BOB WJD AA's Gemini, owned by me, BOS CJB owned by Lauren Waters.
Show B judged by Peter Herman , Giant Angora BOB and BOS same results as in show A, French Angora BOB went to CJD AA's Madison ( her pictures and info are in my last post) and BOS went to CJB AA's Virgo , both bred and owned by me.
The judges didn't like our senior entries too much yesterday, some coats where super short, some lacked the undercoat yet to be well balanced, the juniors took the day :) FIRST legs for all that won, which is nice too :)
Sadly most of the juniors that showed well yesterday will not be in coat anymore at our next show, in Conyers GA on Nov. 17, it will be slim picking for me to say the least, I might be able to bring ONE of each breed, and will have a lot more time for show Secretary duties as well as doing demo's then I had hoped for. Seniors are clipped down, still growing wool, juniors need to be clipped down now due to molting out the baby coats, what can you do ????
Hope this finds everyone in good spirits and enjoying a nice weekend,
Angie K:)
